Five reasons to invest in solar power

As the New Year approaches, it is important that one strives to reduce their carbon footprint. Most people don’t realize it, but the electricity you use greatly affects the environment, leading to disastrous occurrences such as climate change, and if you are currently living in Kenya, you can already begin to feel the changes in the weather.

There has been a lot of talk on renewable sources of energy such as wind and hydro power. However, such sources of energy are for fairly larger areas. Therefore, the only viable renewable source of energy would be Solar Power. The statements below are reasons why investing in solar energy would not be such a bad idea.

 Durability and reliability:

Once a few solar panels are installed, they are able to sustainably power up your house for up to 30 years. Unless something goes horribly wrong then one wouldn’t really need to worry about maintenance costs as solar panels are designed to withstand harsh conditions.

Another thing is that you are always guaranteed sunlight, especially in Mombasa and other hotter parts of the world. Therefore, you will have an unlimited amount of energy each day and the best part is that you don’t have pay for it! Many people are mistaken that solar panels only work when sunlight is available. That is incorrect; solar panels can provide sufficient electricity to power up your home on a cloudy day.

Unlimited Power!

With solar panels installed, you are guaranteed infinite power for free. Those living in Kenya right now may be more thrilled by such an idea than others due to the consistent blackouts and power cuts not to mention the rise in energy prices.

As we all know, oil may soon run out, but there will never be a deficit of sunlight. Therefore, it seems wise to invest in solar panels now as you may have to in the future when fossil fuels run out.

Start small and later expand:

The beauty of solar energy is that you don’t have to install 5 solar panels right away. You can always start with one and keep on adding more solar panels when the time feels right. One solar panel will obviously not to be able to power up a large house but it can power up the necessities such as the light bulbs etc. This means that you can survive on a smaller number of solar panels and later add enough to power up your entire house.

Save a lot of money!

Due to the fact that oil is a scarce resource, its price has increased significantly and therefore so will your electricity bill at the end of the month. A solar panel may be initially expensive but as time progresses you will soon realize that you will be saving much more money and at the end of the month you will not have to worry about your power going off because you failed to pay the bill on time.

Also, if you live an area with excess amount of sunlight you can make money. Your home may only need a certain amount of energy, therefore, with the extra amount, several investment opportunities may arise.

 Reduce your carbon footprint.

By installing a solar panel you will be saving a lot of money but you will also be doing a lot of good for the environment. Every household that invests in solar energy is a decrease in the amount of gas emissions released into the atmosphere each year.

Also, once you install your new solar panel and at the end of the month tell your neighbour’s the amount of money you saved they will also be encouraged to invest in solar energy.
